I really enjoyed reading your entry. I also spent some time zooming in on your 11x14 renderings. I am in awe of how you simply capture the essence of people relaxing in all sorts of positions. I was wondering if your do the quick paint/sketch right there while watching and take a photo in case your subject gets up and moves away to finish up? Or perhaps, with your extensive experience, you complete it with your own imagination and skill?
I love this post because I wouldn’t be able to decide what to take and would take everything! I love the idea of going big, but scares me! I have a pan gouache set and an acrylic gouache set, and they are both enormous and heavy! Love you work. Your stay in Maine sounds heavenly :)
I always struggle on what to bring and bring too much. I am better when I travel because I try to go carry on and that limits me. I’m going to try to make a gouache pallete I can bring that’s not too small but still lightweight. I’ll share it.
Such good advice! It’s so funny how the same things just don’t keep working. It’s frustrating but as an artist it’s just what happens for me too with so many things. You’ve totally inspired me to bring my drawing materials everywhere with me… even if it’s not perfect (and I spill my water in my lap), it’s still super freeing 💗 Have a wonderful time!
Jennifer, these sketches are beautiful! I love how you’re using the page and also leaving white space. They look so cohesive. Enjoy your downtime. Looking forward to seeing you in Italy!!
Hi Jennifer! I love your summer vacation paintings!! Really like the way the larger space gives more room to paint more subjects, like gulls! Enjoy the last bit of summer!
I felt like I was on vacation at the beach just reading this. Well, that's not terribly hard because I live near the beach and walk there every day. But your beach is different from my Pacific. Both qually beautiful and tranquil. Thanks for your post.

Thanks Sharon! The extra space is so helpful. I like going across the whole expanse. You too!

How nice! It's always a treat for me.
Those pictures and colours make me gleeful. 😁 I think I'm holidaying vicariously through you.
Thanks Robyn, That works! I'm glad!
That looks a great place to relax and I love your paintings - so joyous and free. I sometimes save them as my phone screen saver. They make me smile.
Have a great end of summer.
