I appreciate your honesty about being emotionally ambivalent about the season. Being “happy” just because of holidays is an unrealistic expectation, especially those of us who experience mid- winter blues. I’ve learned how to manage the SAD symptoms over the years (be outside, in sunshine, walk, do art daily (with a light in my face) but the blues are always looking over my shoulder. Sometimes I’m inspired to illustrate feelings as we move deeper into solstice darkness. Here’s what I’ve come to know— that life is bittersweet (see book by that title), the ups and downs ARE life , and to fight that only causes more suffering. When I’m down, be grateful and do self care ( which includes doing nothing) and nourish my soul like I would do for a young child. When I’m “up” be grateful for that too and create, support my loved ones, and paint that too.

Thank you Rose, what a beautifully thought out and written response, I agree with all the things you do. It’s hard to push to do it but it’s so important. I’m implementing your management.!

Jennifer, what great puzzles you have. I see one in my future. Also, have you ever worn WOOL socks?? They make a huge difference! After living in NY for most of my life, and having cold feet, I finally bought wool socks when I moved to NC. They are the best, and they don’t itch!

Thanks Jennifer, for the beautiful views of your so organic landscapes and the calming ocean moments. Why don't I go to the beach more often?? It's practically my back yard! I needed that reminder. Maybe the weather will get a little cooler soon and I'll go. Will think of you. Your holiday plans sound terrific. Enjoy!

It’s so interesting how we “forget” to do things we love that are so close and meaningful to us . Take some deep breaths for me while you’re there and enjoy!

Hi Jennifer,

I like LL Bean’s Merino Ragg Wool Socks, two pairs for around $40.00. They are really comfortable and warm. I like them much better than a pair of slippers. You might be able to find Ragg wool socks in a ski shop or sporting goods store, also. I originally found my first pair at a ski shop. I’m going through the same feelings that you are, too. Unfortunately, it seemed to start a bit earlier this year. I love autumn, but dread the months that follow. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving with your family. Your scarves are gorgeous . Thank you for the video, I’m a Pisces, I love it. 🦃
