You describe so beautifully the way I felt after Covid when everyone else was starting to go out and I like being home. For me, it felt like a switch flipped when I decided I was going to go places and even get up earlier to go somewhere if a friend went to walk. This was so beautifully written that it’s clear to me. Your writing chops are all there.

Thank you Susan. I actually never felt much like a writer until using substack. I like the platform and it's helped me come out of my shell.

I get it about the mixed feelings after covid

Encouraging words…feeling inspired has been a bit of a struggle for me lately too. Thanks for the honest and thoughtful post. It’s good to know we all are human and need to be kind to ourselves and others. ❤️

Thanks Kit!! A lot of times, pieces separately don't make sense but they do as a group.

Love your beautiful landscapes! So much inspiration! I’m excited to try sketching in a scene and coloring it in later. There’s something so calming about the idea of doing a piece in stages 💗

It definitely makes drawing “live” less stressful!!!

I'm going through family stuff right now and couldn't draw if I tried, which I don't have the energy to do. Thank you for letting me know I'm not the only one. Just looking at your paintings was so uplifting.

Hi Jennifer! I love your work, and this post really speaks to me. I appreciate your transparency about losing your footing. I am definitely in a constrained period right now, unsure of subject or media. Thank you for sharing so much for free, and I’ll think about upgrading to join the zoom sessions.

Thank you Stacy, This feels like a good place for me to just write with no pressure, If I made it a paid subscription it would feel like work rather than something I enjoy. The live sessions on Patreon are really fun!

I know exactly how you've been feeling. I've been having health problems since April. I've had to be quiet and hang around home. Perfect time to paint right?? Nooooooo way. Got a huge case of EH, whatever, I'm not in the mood. I did meet with my watercolor group this morning mainly because I HAVE to paint there. It was Okaaaaay, not great, but not bad either. It's the blahs for sure and it's good to know that this happens to professional artists too. Good luck!

exactly!!! I hope you are getting better, times can be hard sometimes. It does seem like we "should" be able to do what we love all the time but it just doesn't work that way.. Wishing you well!

Thank you for sharing your sketches - can you share the medium you were using for the landscapes? I have been learning watercolors but want to experiment with other painting too - thank you!

The landscapes are mixed media- acrylic, I experiment with different mediums to create texture, pencil, oil pastel, crayon. anything that strikes my mood at the moment! Thank you!
