Painting the Feminine in Nature – A Special Mother’s Day Class!
May 10th | 1–3 PM EST | Live on Zoom
Join us for a special Zoom class in celebration of women, mothers, and nature: with me and Gayle Kabaker.
I’m always so happy when the warmth of spring, the sunshine, and flowers return. It’s a time of magic and renewal. In my gardening zone, Mother’s Day is when we can plant new things without the risk of frost. I so look forward to this!
That same spirit will inspire our class, our theme will center on a woman surrounded by flowers, and possibly a child capturing a scene of love, warmth, and color that the season brings. Let’s paint, connect, and celebrate spring and Mother’s Day together.
No experience necessary—just bring your curiosity, your paints, and your love of beauty. Donation only class.

I just finished up my sixth on-the-go sketchbook—the kind I carry with me through daily life, sketching whenever and wherever inspiration strikes. Finishing another one always brings me joy, not just because I love drawing, but because it reminds me of the quiet discipline behind the practice. Seeing them lined up on my shelf is a visual reminder: I can commit to something and see it through. I’ve been working on more discipline in my life. Things like: getting up and drinking a whole glass of water before I do anything else, a 10-minute daily meditation, and most importantly, not picking up my phone for at least an hour after I wake up. These things are hard. They might not stick, but the delight in the accomplishment is quite substantial.
Drawing from life has been a huge learning process. For years, I wrestled with what it looked like for me. The materials I brought out with me never felt quite right, and I created a hundred reasons not to follow through. But something shifted when I found the right tools—these markers (or these) and a smaller Muji sketchbook. Suddenly, it all made sense.
I still paint regularly, but this kind of drawing has become a new and powerful part of my creative life. It's loose, in-the-moment, and full of energy—and it feels real. I'm happy with where I am now.
There’s a sale in my shop through Mothers Day: 10% of all orders with code MOM2025 (on everything!)
My large 100% cotton scarves are available—and they make the perfect Mother’s Day gift (or how about one for yourself?). The designs are printed from my original floral paintings. They are soft, lightweight, and beautiful, I wear mine as a summer sarong, a wrap, or draped around my neck for a shot of color. There are limited quantities, so once they're gone, they’re gone!
I’m excited to announce I'll be joining the inaugural Colori Flori Summit! Join me and thirteen other artists from 12-25 May. Each artist explores colours, florals and botanicals in many different techniques. Find out more here. Early bird tickets go on sale Saturday, April 26th.
And finally, some Psanky Eggs I created.
Thanks for reading all of this, and I hope to connect soon!

Beautiful flip through!
Love your sketch ✍🏻 book Jennifer! Are the drawings all drawn life or are they also drawn from memory?
