Hello friends,
We need peace in the world right now. I took this video at the Claudio Bravo Palace in Taroudant, Morocco. The swimming koi were mesmerizing and hope it gives you a short, calming moment of meditation today.
Gayle and I returned from our workshop in Morocco late Saturday night. What a dream it’s been. We spent a few days in Taroudant to acclimate and then mostly at the Atlas Kasbah in Agadir. I felt enveloped in the warm desert colors, ochres, rusts, peach, browns. I’ve never done a sketchbook before that is so concentrated in one color palette. It was special to feel so immersed. See below for lots more on Morocco!
Please join us for a new Morocco Inspired Zoom Class: October 22 1-3 EST Creative Still Life
The workshop will begin with a short show and tell from each of us. We will show our sketchbooks from Morocco. You will have the opportunity to see our painting process, and either paint along with us or just watch. Everyone will have access to the recording later. You will have a chance to ask us questions in the chat. While Gayle is painting Jennifer will monitor the chat and relay questions and Gayle will do the same while Jennifer paints. You’re welcome to either simply watch or you can paint along with us. We paint with Acryla gouache, but you are welcome to paint or draw with anything that you have.
If you can't make it on October 22nd there is a video-only option. EVERYONE from the live class will also get the video. It takes about a week for us to have the video edited after the class. You can purchase the video on Eventbrite, and it also pay what you can!
The wall surrounding the city of Taroudant. There weren’t too many tourists there and we got onto national Moroccan TV to encourage people to travel there after the earthquake. All was beautiful and safe, everyone was so happy we came.
These patterns are beautiful and I use them as reference in my paintings.
Gayle and I exploring Taroudant.
I never saw a yellow/rose pomegranate before, They are very pretty and tasted a bit like an apple.
We drank lots of mint tea until we learned it had gunpowder green tea in it too and we were up all night.
Here are some our wonderful painters. Everyone did such stunning work. Even though it was 100 degrees, an unexpected heat wave from the Sahara, it didn’t stop us!
We painted in our bathing suits and jumped in the pool every 30 minutes or so. I did this landscape to leave for our hosts who took such good care of everyone.
Us at the Kasbah.
Heres a look at the demos I made during the week in my sketchbook.
Thanks for reading!
So pretty! This makes MY day!
Love the fish. Will look at the video often!
