Hi Everyone,
It’s been a hard week for me with some very difficult family situations and the world events in general, I hope you are finding some beauty and enjoyment in creative moments. And Hello to new subscribers, thanks for being here!
I am excited to present my new Murals!
I have had a dream for a long time to have my work on wallpaper and now it’s here with Chasing Paper. They are done as stand alone murals which is so cool, my art blown up to a huge scale. I’ve never painted this big and now I want to! All the images they chose are from my travels, The one above is actually a demo painting from the first retreat Gayle and I did in France, of a beautiful town called Albi. This would be fun to have in a room, It was a view across the river and I was demoing how to capture the architecture in a loose way with the reflections in the water below.
This is the original sketchbook painting, about 7.5x11”
This one was painted in the jungles of Tulum, Mexico, The foliage was dense, rich and enveloping. The variety of textures from the different trees and plants was particularly inspiring and pops of beautiful tropical flowers emerging everywhere.
This is what the painting looked like in my sketchbook originally. It’s small! The notebook is 5x7” I had painted the spread a royal blue and after a few days feeling the vibes of the place I was able to get the spirit of the place down onto paper.
In 2017 I was on a truly inspiring trip to India, all around Rajasthan for 3 weeks. One of the highlights of the trip was meeting lots of people who have been makers for generations. Weavers, block printers, indigo dyers. We got to learn and participate as well. We spent a day learning stitching techniques with an organization called The Stitching Project.. We worked with local women who were creating sustainable goods for purchase as well as building their livlihoods. It was really enjoyable but I never finished it. When I got home I thought how cool would it be to paint the stitches, This was my way of “finishing” and I love the result! .
This is how far I got on my original piece before I gave up, I think I need to go back to it now. There are other patterns in the collection, check them out here.

We renovated a 100 year old falling down garage space into this soaring, light inspiring place to work, right before the pandemic. It was great timing.

We have a new Zoom Painting workshop scheduled for November 18, 1-3 EST
We are changing platforms from Eventbrite since that was so problematic last time. As soon as it’s up I will let you know and send link to purchase tickets.
